Viola

Sherry Ellis, Principal
Sherry Ellis Sherry Ellis, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, has performed with the Ashland Symphony and the Mansfield Symphony. She has appeared as a soloist in Germany and was a semi-finalist in the 2004 International Viola Competition in Paris, France. Sherry gives private lessons on violin, viola, and piano and is also a published children's author.



Jessie Ahuama-Jonas
Jessie Ahuama-Jonas Ms. Ahuama-Jonas joined the Georgia Philharmonic in 2015. She started playing violin at the age of eight, then switched to viola the following year. A product of the Fulton County School system, she started taking viola performance seriously in the 8th grade, earning her positions with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Talent Development Program and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Miami and performed as a viola member with The Frost School of Music Symphony Orchestra. She is completing her Masters of Music Education degree through The Boston University. Ms. Ahuama-Jonas is in her ninth year of teaching orchestral music, this being her second year at where her journey began, at Ridgeview Charter School in Sandy Springs, GA. In her spare time, Ms.Ahuama-Jonas loves to play and watch sports, read, shop, attend concerts of all genres and play with her yorkie terrier Khole.

Krystal Saenz
Krystal Saenz Krystal holds a BM in Music Education from Georgia State University. She is currently the orchestra director at Daniell Middle School in Cobb County. She performs with the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra on bassoon and viola. She has been teaching various woodwinds and strings for six years. She has taught clinics and private lessons at the elementary, middle and high school levels in both concert band and orchestra as well as marching band. With a specialization in double reeds, Krystal has started students as young as 8 years old on the oboe and the bassoon and teaches reed making for both instruments as well. Having grown up in Roswell, GA, she is an alumni of the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, Georgia Allstate Orchestra, and four years of the Fulton County Honor Orchestra and Honor Band. She has also performed internationally in Asia and at the GMEA clinic in Savannah, Georgia and Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois.

Greg Selig
Greg Selig Greg is a vice president of network engineering for a telecommunications company based in Atlanta having relocated from Wisconsin. He has a been a member since 2013. While in Wisconsin, Greg studied with Matt Michelic of Lawrence University while playing viola with: Manitowoc Symphony, Green Bay Symphony, Green Bay Civic Symphony, Oshkosh Symphony, Pamiro Opera, numerous shows and quartets in northeast WI, Chicago Civic Orchestra, and the University of Illinois - Champaign Symphony. Other musical past pursuits include being a guitarist in a WI area bar band named Severance Package.


Kathy Wellman
Kathy Wellman Kathy Wellman has been a member of the Orchestra since 1985. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is employed as a real estate paralegal at Alston & Bird, LLP. She is also a member of the orchestra at the First Presbyterian Church in Midtown Atlanta.
