French Horn

Mandy Tinsley, Principal
Mandy Tinsley, Principal A native of Greensboro, NC, Mandy attended UNC - Greensboro and graduated from Florida State University with a music degree. She played eight seasons with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and several seasons with the Greensboro Opera. She was a freelance musician in Greensboro and then in Charlotte, NC. After moving to Atlanta in 1995, Mandy joined Orchestra Atlanta. She has served as principal horn in the Georgia Philharmonic since 2003. She also plays with the Basement Brass Quintet and the Dolce Chamber Orchestra.



Anthony Bernard
Anthony Bernard Anthony Bernard has played horn with the Georgia Philharmonic since 2009, the same year he earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Capella University. He is the Music Specialist at Eastvalley Elementary School in Cobb County and was their 2003 Teacher of the Year. Active in music ministry, he freelances with church orchestras in the metro area. Dr. Bernard also sings in and directs church choirs. While a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus in the 1990s, Dr. Bernard had the privilege of performing under the direction of Robert Shaw, William Fred Scott and Yoel Levi. Anthony enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, teaching, and making music.


Gina Davis
Gina Davis A native of Marietta, Georgia, Gina has been active in the Atlanta music community since college, holding a BM Music Education from Kennesaw State University. Gina is celebrating her twentieth year as Music Teacher at Frey Elementary in Cobb County and was honored as 2008-09 Teacher of the Year. The newest member of the horn section, Gina has also performed with the Cobb Symphony, Dekalb Symphony, Atlanta Community Orchestra, Atlanta Wind Symphony, Emory Wind Symphony and has served as a church musician both as an instrumentalist and children's choir director. Gina is passionate about both large symphonic works and chamber music. Gina and her husband, Tom, live in Roswell, where he is the Senior Pastor of Roswell United Methodist Church. Gina and Tom are fortunate to have their immediate and large extended family living in the metro area and treasure time spent with family and friends, which is often accompanied with good food, laughter, music and storytelling. Gina enjoys cultural events, golf, traveling, cooking, contra dancing, hiking and kayaking.

Jason Dunn
Jason Dunn Jason Dunn has played with the Georgia Philharmonic since 1996. Raised in Gainesville, Georgia, Jason is an active professional freelancer and has a B.S. from Auburn University where he studied with Randall Faust, past president of the International Horn Society. He was principal horn and section leader of the Auburn University Symphonic Band, the Auburn University Symphony Orchestra, the Auburn Brass and the Auburn University Marching Bands for multiple years, and a founding member of the honor music fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi. A dynamic and flexible player, Jason has played with the Gainesville Symphony, DeKalb Symphony, Toccoa Symphony, North Georgia Symphony, Cobb Symphony, Montgomery Symphony, the Atlanta Community Orchestra, Atlanta Chamber Orchestra with the Atlanta Boy Choir and in various recording sessions in Georgia and Alabama. Jason is very experienced in chamber music, having played with Emory Brass Ensemble, the Atlanta Horn Quartet, and Khaki Brass Quintet. Jason is the ultimate horn enthusiast, and he and his wife Leslie Ann have traveled to a number of International Horn Society conferences around North America and have created an impressive horn collection. Jason also has an MBA. During the day he works as a Systems Lead for the State Accounting Office of Georgia. When he is not demonstrating his alphorn or his collection of natural and nature-made horns, he is cheering on his favorite SEC team. War Eagle!

Leslie Ann Dunn
Leslie Ann Dunn Leslie Ann Dunn is a 5th generation Atlantan, has been in the horn section of the Georgia Philharmonic since 1993. She started studying horn at age nine. After studying for years with Brice Andrus, she won principal horn of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, DeKalb Youth Symphony and both Georgia's All-State Band and Orchestra in consecutive years. She studied music performance at Converse College and the University of the South and has a BA in French Horn performance from William & Mary. She also attended Brevard Music Center, Georgia’s Governors Honors Program, Sewanee Summer Music Center for multiple summers, and played under the baton of Keith Lockhart, Dale Clevenger, Jere Flint, Henry Janiec and Robert Shaw. Playing professionally since the age of 15, Leslie Ann has played with the DeKalb Symphony, Cobb Symphony, Gainesville Symphony, Atlanta Chamber Orchestra with the Atlanta Boy Choir, Atlanta Community Orchestra and Spartanburg Symphony. Leslie Ann also has a JD from Pepperdine University School of Law, and is a licensed attorney in Georgia, Florida and California and also is a licensed mediator and arbitrator. Her law specialty is business collection litigation. She also has a M.B.A. and a M.S. in Criminal Justice. She is an online instructor of business law for Georgia State University. When not playing duets with her husband, Leslie Ann enjoys traveling and collecting different horns (including an authentic alphorn) and taking her children to Disney.
